SEARCHING
IN RUINS EXAM
13/11/2004
Sara and Cap were participating in a searching in ruins exam -
1st degree, in Zagorje ob Savi (Slovenia). Cap, unfortunately, didn't
pass the exam, because after only 5 minutes he was happily barking
and calling Sara to the place where no "bodies" were hidden.
Well, Cap was barking in the ground floor room, which was exactly
under the place where the "body" was hidden. After better
examination of the ruin, Sara found out that the hidden person was
squatting exactly on the pipe opening going through the ground room
in which Cap scented the smell. Unfortunately, the judge expected
the dog to find and locate the hidden person on the first floor
where he actually was, so because of a "false" marking
Cap failed the exam. Cap found the second "body" without
a problem in a couple of minutes. Sara and Cap did obedience exercises
well, with 49/50 points and the exercise of negotiating the obstacles
with 46/50 points. We hope they have more luck next time.
Mirela with Mawlch Gunna also participated in that exam and she
successfully passed the 2nd degree exam. Congratulations! (more)

TRAINING
IN IG, SLOVENIA
06/11/2004
On 6th of November Sara and Cap participated, together with colleagues
from KOSSP "Zagreb", in a training of searching in ruins
in Ig (Slovenia). The training was very interesting and useful and
contributed to Cap's "ruins" experience. On the training
there were two more Mawlch dogs: Gunna and Gel (more).

and showed present audience how dogs could help in detecting people
cowered by ruins. Mirela and Mawlch Gunna also participated in that

INTERNATIONAL
SEARCH AND RESCUE CAMP IN SLOVENIA
25-29/08/2004
Sara and Cap, together with friends from our
Club, were participating in the already traditional international
search and rescue camp in Slovenia, from 25th to 29th of August
2004.

This year the organizer was KD Celje. Members of rescue teams
from 7 countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Germany
and France) were participating in the camp, with a record number of
people - about 250. The trainings were held during three days. The
work was organized in small groups consisting of about 8 dogs. Sara
and Cap trained in one of the most advanced groups.

The instructor of that working group was dr. Anton
Grad from Slovenia, and all the members of the group except Sara
were from France. Sara really enjoyed working in that group, not
only because the French colleagues have very fast and well trained
dogs (mostly Malinois), but also because their way of training and
thinking is similar to hers.

Cap and Sara again showed that they are an excellent rescue team
and that they are definitely not worse than professionals. Namely,
in France only professionals (policemen, firemen) are allowed to
go to rescue missions. At this year's camp Sara and Cap trained
searching for a "drowned man" for the first time. Cap
showed great enthusiasm and understanding for this kind of searching
and he received praise from everybody. The other trainings consisted
of searching in ruins and woods.
